Fall = Layers, Baby

Selected coat, H&M cardi, vintage button down, 2nd hand shlip, DM shoes

SEW, to follow up on the Photo Booth (PB from now on) narcissism that took place two days ago, here is the full thing that I did wear + more PB narcissism (hey, it's okay). Can't believe I wore two silk things at once. I am practicing my layering techniques, 'cause I didn't do it very well last year and got pretty cold a lot of the time. This is the year for change!
Got a new coat, it's black and woollen with quilted leather accents, which is pretty decent. I like wool, I dig leather, I lap up quilted leather. It's just a good coat, kids. It's not that thick and warm as "woollen coat" indicates, BUT it is still fall, thank god. I'm hoping to get a pretty killar proper winter coat this weekend if I can be arsed. To cover up my arms properly, I put on this really shitty H&M cardigan. It looks alright, but it's so bad and torn and satan 'cause it's mad old. Also, it's really thin and doesn't really do that much for heat either (notice a recurring theme in my clothing), so I gotta get a proper black, warm cardigan down for winter. I tried to add colour today with the vintage Dior shirt to make things a little interesting. Not sure it's worked 100%, but it definitely made me feel less naked, 'cause this slip is like wearing sex. It's fuckin silk and low cut and short and if that wasn't enough, there's a little slit in each side to get as much thigh exposure as possible. Which I don't really mind, but the weather doesn't allow for this to happen constantly. It was actually given to me from my mum's friend a couple of years ago... Strange. Can't wait for the summer so I can wear it with nothing and feel NEKKID!~

Hope they play this song on Wednesday aksjgksjahg so stoked. Gonna buy a tee (:

Instant Star

H&M oversize cardigan, vintage blouse, Topshop skirt, Underground Creepers, vintage leather jacket

Again, another old outfit because it's getting mad dark in Copenhagen. There is literally no light in the morning, when I'd usually take posey pictures. Was rocking it with this other vintage shirt that I bought in Beijing back in the day. It's got the best front and collar details, but I forgot to rape my photobooth on that day, another time. Am sad to announce that the era of my leather jacket has once again come to an end. BUT I got a pretty killer fall coat a while ago, so yeh, look out for it.

Can We Talk About This?: Lou Reed

A total musical legend and poet extraordinaire passed yesterday.
My friend told me yesterday and I spent all night listening to Velvet Underground and his solo stuff. My whole tumblr dash was just full of black and white pictures as well as fans crying. I still feel really strange and melancholic. Lou's always been on my list with Bowie and Iggy and all the other legends that are actually still alive and the fact that he's dead now makes me miserable. It's so different from artists that are already dead when you get to know them, where you can be all "oh damn, I wish they'd lived longer, wonder what they would've done." And then there's artists that are still alive and they're basically these far away glowy creatures. And then one of them dies, and you think about what you could potentially have been doing while fucking LOU REED took his last breath. Maybe I was on my way home or eating an apple in the kitchen, probably doing something super menial. It's really strange to think about.

Ugly cry picture with my Transformer record </3
The summer in between 9th and 10th grade I listened almost exclusively to The Velvets. A lot had happened to me in 9th grade and I was pretty emotionally damaged for a lot of reasons and I'd just listen to their first three albums all the goddamn time. I've basically been pretty infatuated with the VU and the factory days for a while and this feels eerie.

Candy came from out on the island
In the backroom she was everybody's darlin'
But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
She says, "hey babe, take a walk on the wild side"

There's more to the picture/Than meets the eye

Vintage leather jacket, vintage shirt, Diesel jeans, Underground creepers

This is sort of an old outfit type thing that I took pictures of ages ago. Outlet jeans forever. Still rocking the middle part from time to time. The shirt is an old favourite I bought in a great vintage store in the hutongs in Beijing. Beijing is actually pretty rife with good vintage shops that feel really genuine. My personal favourite will forever me Mega Mega Vintage, a fuckin gem.
School has been mad crazy (still is, but I'm taking a well deserved break from work), anyone taking the IB will agree that right now is hell. And the next couple of months will be as well, BUT THEN IT WILL ALL BE OVER! I'm in the midst of writing my extended essay and crying because universities. I've made a very pivotal decision recently to study fine arts after my gap year, which is scary and really exciting, because I never had the confidence before to even consider it. Related, I've started a sort of art sketchbook type tumblr, mainly because I can. I call it Gritty Grimy Artist and I mostly post pages from my many sketchbooks. If I get more into it I might post some serious pieces that I do for school, but I like the idea of sharing a sketchbook because it's much more raw and simple compared to things that are well thought out. Sketches are also quite personal as well, let's all share and stuff.

Have some Neil Young live action, it is so so good.

Wave of Mutilation

Thrifted jacket/top, Cheap Monday jeans - me trying to emulate my Buzzcocks poster

The transition from mirror pics to timer pics happened pretty abruptly.
I really wanted to wear this jacket but then I was all "oh god shirts shirts shirts" and I got stressed so I just decided to wear my jacket as a shirt, hooray. You can solve anything in life through cutting some corners, I swear. Got the jacket in some 2nd hand shop in Sydney for something like 5 Aus $$$ nearly two years ago, total steal.

Also, guess who's going to see Pixies next month, HELL YES IT'S ME

I Wanna Buy You a Cadillac~

UO Bowie top cut to shreds, vintage belt, H&M pants, Topshop shews
Photo Boothin' with Sid, Mr. Rotten and The Cure.. and Bowie on my belly
Brand new cheap shoes in Topshop.. y'know, found on sale on those plastic shoe hangers instead of at the display
Also, another Topshop lipstick. This time much vampy-er and darker and called Depth

I ditched the middle parting for a side one again, but don't fret, it will return. I shanghaied my mum into buying this top for me this summer and then I cut off the sleeves probably down to around where my ribs end and right above my bra on the back. The front looks wonderfully and deceivingly whole. The pants are my old choir cigarettes from 10th grade, but man, are they huge around the waist. I force them up with this belt from my work place woooo cost me close to no money. Got new shoes from Topshop that are very Jeffrey Campbell rip-off-esque with the cutouts. However, while I dig a nice Coltrane boot as much as the next woman, me being cheap and poor (the best combination, in my opinion... except for being able to throw around money x being filthy rich) doesn't agree. So I got these instead, BUT THIS CHICK AT SCHOOL TOTALLY ASKED ME IF THEY WERE THE REAL DEAL AND I WAS LIKE "PHYEAH I WISH" and then I burst into tears because I am poor.

Have some Bolan.

New Order

 Chinese internet shirt, Topshop skirt

These pictures are additionally called me being fuckin' adorable. I've been rocking a middle parting for a couple of days because looking young just feels like more fun. I can't remember how much fun I had, since these pictures are from Monday, but y'know, I feel like I was having a blast. Yeah yeah I know, I'm at home on a Friday night posting pictures from a Monday morning BUT I have been ridiculously busy with school and trying to keep my head above tests and assignments and IB group 4 project, which was meaningless hell.

This will forever and always be my favourite New Order song. I don't care what anyone says, it's timeless and beautiful and everything just ngh

Arrrrh yeah my uncle came from da 'Jing with my shirts and polaroid film (which I thought too insignificant-looking to photograph)! The BTTF one did sadly not arrive before he left China, but maybe next time. BUT I got all of these lovelies and I am ecstatic to have fresh band tee meat in my wardrobe. I will probably end up cutting all of them into crop tops next summer, but I'll keep a few of them intact. Gotta think of the winter. I think all of these cost me around 300 DKK (for 5 stellar shirts, well done, true bargain)
The shirts also came with a giant amount of other crap which I have illustrated in the second picture. I got a tiny notebook with a camera on it, a card with a drunk, purple horse-like thing, a tiny New Order bag, a yellow bracelet that is also a pen (the little metal-y bit opens and the bracelet now a pen... I know, god bless China) and a New Order tag. ALL FOR FREE I am elated.

Look How Much Denim I Can Wear

 Vintage Levi's and shirt

Well, it didn't take long for me to ditch the awful quality. I actually thought I'd lost this Lumix camera a year ago when I moved back to Copenhagen, but it does prevail. Probably a good thing, as the other pictures are really awful... I'll still rape my Photo Booth though, fear not. If you're lucky, I may get more advanced AND DO THE TIMER! But that would take away even more of the "I'm running a blog from my shitty room" vibe and I feel like the new amount of pixels have done enough damage for now.
Denim on denim can totally work, guys. People who are all "call the fashion police oh my god did she tie that denim shirt into a knot at the front i may die" can look away.

Can We Talk About This?: Courtney Love for Versace

I have a total soft spot for Hole. Courtney not so much, but I like that she's pretty unapologetic about who she is. I just love these pictures from when she was the face of Versace. I think they display a very different fragile aspect of her and she looks really beautiful. The whole 90s just look so accepting of the whole kinderwhore Courtney aspect. The pictures are from 1997, a year before Hole's Celebrity Skin (the best album, amirite?? ugh I dunno, Live Through This was so good as well) came out. Good old Love is depicted as everything but crass and mouthy. She looks gorgeous and soft. I especially love the second picture. Not only do the clothes look super stellar, but Court looks like a deer in the face, her hair is perfect and her shoulders are literally like soft triangles. Well done, Versace.

Can't Live For Tomorrow

Vintage leather jacket, Urban Outfitters top, Topshop skirt
 Ready for schooooool
 DMs forever <3
Bowie, Ronson and sketchbook

Yeah, these are pictures from yesterday, which was a pretty swell day. I had two free blocks so I had loads of time in the morning. I had coffee and cigs with myself and made tea and brought it with me to school. Also cropped the top from UO (that I bought on sale a million years) 'cause I wasn't feeling the shape. I've been wearing that tiny choker chain thing nearly every day, I really dig it. Best 5 DKK buy ever. Wore my studded DMs again because I'm in total love with them, I think they sharpen things up. Am also seriously considering buying these vintage 70's style heeled boots that look totally killer, but I don't know if I'd really wear them. Also, I have so many pairs of black shoes. The last picture is my open Mick Rock book/mag/thing on one of my favourite pages. It's his picture of Bowie and Ronson both wearing totally magnificent jackets with giant lapels and then my sketchbook lying on top of it. They're on the window sill next to my bed because I like to look at stylish men after I sketch and before I sleep.

Sunday Details

Things I dig these days: Meat Is Murder record by The Smiths, Glam! An Eyewitness Account by Mick Rock, supermarket soap bubbles, Topshop Inihibition lipstick, vintage ring, Polaroid camera
 Vintage lighter
Earrings and neck wrinkles

It's a ridiculously gray and rainy Sunday today, but it's also really nice. I've spent the day drinking tea, eating home made pie and having Will & Grace marathons.
That Smiths record is a brilliant thing to listen to while leafing through Mick Rock's magazine/book type thing full of glossy pictures from the glam rock days. There are serious gems of Bowie, Tim Curry as Frank-N-Furter, Syd Barrett and loads of other dudes. I've also spent around 20 minutes sitting in my window sill and blowing cheap supermarket bubbles while playing Visiting Statue by Grimes on repeat very loud from my speakers... I feel like I am brightening people's day. Or maybe I'm being obnoxious as hell.
I am also super stoked because my uncle is coming to visit from Beijing in around a week and I've ordered sooo many stellar shirts from Chinese ebay/amazon (taobao.com). I don't know if they're all in stock, but I'm hopefully getting one with Back To The Future, Iggy Pop, New Order, Joy Division, The Cure and The Smiths. AND finally new film for my Polaroid camera. I am way too cheap to buy it in Urban Outfitters... hence this blog.
Also, another lighter from my beloved second hand church shop that I paid 5 DKK for. It's a vintage Ronson and sadly does not work. I'd have to pay around 500 DKK to get it fixed and I'm just not up for that at the current junction of my career. Maybe some other time. But it's damn gorgeous.

You're Gonna Miss Me, Baby

 Notorious mirror shots
DIY croptop, COS trousers, studded lowtop DMs
DMs on public transport
Notorious photo booth shots
Lipstick from Wet N Wild in Dark Wine (wouldn't that just be red wine? is white wine now called light wine and rosé medium wine? what is the point of that "dark"?)

I borrowed my mum's light gray, baggy trousers today, because I saw her wear them yesterday and I was all "damn girl, I got to get on that." We wear the same size, but we're in different ends of the spectrum of the trusty size 36, as in these are not as baggy on her. While it sounds kind of awful that I'm the same size as my mum, let's remember that she is an Asian woman with tiny bones, whereas I have inherited my dad's Scandi physique, ergo I have huge bones (harhar). There is always a reason. Also, it's pretty sweet 'cause I can rape her wardrobe as well has my own.
Have a lovely day, kittens.

J'Dior You, J'Can't Get Enough of You

vintage Dior shirt (oh god, kill me), Topshop skater skirt

Wore my vintage Dior today, fuck I'm so posh. Realising it's probably a man's shirt, 'cause the buttons are on the right. But no matter, it's like they say, they're not men's or women's clothes, they're my clothes.
I don't wear any other make up than lipstick these days. This one is Inhibition from Topshop and it's my favourite right now. I also borrow my mum's Razzberry from Bobbi Brown and I get my other ones in supermarkets and drug stores because BARGAINS. Choker chain type thing is bought second hand. Feast your eyes on an E! True Hollywood Story teenage bedroom. I live in filth and I like it.

This week, have a listen to Don't Lie To Me by Big Star.

HD is for squares

This skirt was bought from my work place for 20 DKK with my discount, I made the croptop from an old tshirt I bought on a fieldtrip in 9th grade or something in a tiny province in China (I think it was Mao Zedong's hometown?). Lace bralet is from Urban Outfitters, as are the studded platform sandals. I really dig a bralet and a croptop, especially this croptop because of it's more childish and simple shape. I feel like the black lace brings it up a notch when I wave to people.

Black and White and Bowie

I want to talk for a minute about our friend and saviour, David Bowie. David Bowie is great because he's unapologetic. If he wants to wear a dress and lounge on a loveseat, so help him, he will. David Bowie helps me in a lot of ways. He helps me dance in my room, but he also helps me dress. He helps me put on purple lipstick and platforms. He helps me ignore people who stare and to laugh when people call me a slut (most of them joke, but hey, it still cuts a bit). The great hair, the ever-present cigarette, Bowie will always have a special place in my heart. He looked crazy snazzy in '72 and painfully sharp in '76 and he makes me care less about what other people think.

Why I work for free...

4 records (Culture Club, Dodo and the Dodos, 2x Dire Straits), plain white shirt, vintage Dior shirt (yes, I know, the second hand life is g), nude slip skirt.
... and why it rules me super hard.
Basically, I take the IB, which means I have to work for free because CAS because school. Other international kids will know exactly what a pain in the balls it is. BUT one of my working for free things is working at a place called Kirkens Korshær in Copenhagen, which is like a Red Cross shop. I work for four hours on whichever Saturdays I have time with some pretty nice people and I get half off on all stuff (and stuff is already pretty cheap). However, the biggest perk is getting to look at things before they go into the store and other people can buy them. Yesterday, someone brought in this zippo in a box full of other stuff and my co-worked and I went "O:" and she let me have it. FOR FREE, because "we do that sometimes here."Also, the Dior shirt came in a trash bag that I looked through. Also, I paid 7.5 DKK for the records, because there were 3 for 10 and 1 for 5. I bought 4, which would be 15 DKK, but I get half off because I work ergo life is great.
So my biggest advice to anyone who wants to save money on clothes is to get a similar job. People clean out their wardrobes and toes all the time, and if you're there right when the action happens, you'll get a super sah-weet deal.

In the morning/don't say you love me

Ignore the face pl0x, it's been a long week

I like to keep things forever, because I know I'll use them again. This plan black crop top used to be a really long tank top I bought in the 8th grade fro Izzue in Beijing, but I cut it and now it goes with all my high waisted shit. Yeah, being nifty. Pants are vintage Levi's (I think they''re 550s?) bought in my favourite Danish vintage shop, Episode, belt is from a secondhand shop where I do volunteer work (more on that later, it's probably the biggest source of clothing I get that makes my bank account not want to kill itself), shoes are studded DM lowtops bought on sale.

tirsdag den 20. august 2013

I like dressing up for school, otherwise I find myself infinitely bored. A lot of people are all "woah, so fancy," or "you look kind of slutty," but I do what I want, man.
Most people probably know that clever trick of taking an old pair of leggings, cutting a hole in the crotch and using them as a shirt. It's one of my favourite things to do for cheap people. Also, old H&M denim jackets bought for 50 DKK a couple of years ago that is still useable today are pretty sweet. I need to do my nails and pointy Underground creepers have improved my life in some way, I swear, especially when I bought them on sale... Is me being stingy reinforcing the stereotype that Asians are cheap?
